Painter, graphic artist and typographer.
Studied art history at the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University in Prague (1947-1948) and at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (1948-1953; František Tichý, František Muzika). Spent the year 1964 at Farleigh Dickinson University in Madison (New Yearsey) on a stipend stay. Has exhibited as part of a group since 1953 and independently since 1959. Member of the group Máj (May; from the year 1957) and the Hollar Association of the Czech Graphic Artists (from the year 1961); participated in the birth of the group Konfrontace (Confrontation) in the year 1961. Created thirty-four film posters over the years 1960-1967.
Award winning film posters: 1962 Toulouse-Lautrec prize in Paris (Moby Dick).
